Yesterday I asked Aaron if he had anything he wanted to do this weekend. His response was ‘photograph trees’. So that’s just what we set out to do. We headed to Priddy in the Mendips – an area of outstanding natural beauty. As per, we didn’t arrive ’til mid-afternoon following a lazy/hungover Saturday morning. I also made the terrible mistake of leaving my camera on high ISO, so my photos are grainier than a bag of rice. Nevertheless, even the grainiest of photos couldn’t make the Mendips look bad. At least this is what I’ve been telling myself throughout editing.
We began with a walk around Priddy mineries/pools, opposite Stock Hill woodland. The mineries are scattered with colourful vegetation and pine trees, plus a few still pools.
After walking for a short while we stumbled upon a cluster of pine trees to fulfil Aaron’s weekend to-do list. I also tried out my new Pixter iPhone lenses here. For the record, I have always has a cheap Amazon equivalent and was expecting no difference. The new lenses are in fact better, the wide angle (seen below) is a lot wider in the Pixter lens.
Next, we crossed the road and headed to Stock Hill woodland, just in case Aaron hadn’t had an adequate dosage of trees. We only had a few hours of daylight left at this stage, so the photos get grainier. The woodlands have a peaceful and enchanting vibe about them. For some unapparent reason a large area had been cut down. This meant we could sneak some pretty, if not slightly cliche, log photos. After this we had run out of daylight and had to return to our muddy car and head home, though I think we managed to take a substantial amount of tree photos!
